Dangers of the Pickering Nuclear Plant & Update on Tarek Loubani & John Greyson

York Community Report: News Now’s Christian Deo speaks to Dr. Craig Heron about the Day of Concern at York for Professor John Greyson and London physician Tarek Loubani on Thursday, Sept. 26th. Greyson and Loubani have been detained for over 40 days in Egypt and are currently on a hunger strike for their release.

Feature Interview: As the Pickering Nuclear Power Station reaches the end of its design life in 2014, Ontario Power Generation looks to extend its operations past that date. Angela Bischoff of the Clean Air Alliance of Ontario speaks to Christian Deo about the issues and dangers of keeping Pickering online.

Independent Arts Report: ‘Ordinary Woman, Extraordinary Dreams’ is a documentary that follows Maggie Sofea, paralyzed in a diving accident at age 11, as she reconnects with her First Nations community in Northwestern Ontario. Christian Deo speaks to Darren Lillington, one of Maggie’s caretakers, about the making of the film. It screens at the Bloor Hot Docs Cinema on Monday September 30th at 6:00pm. Director Jim Hyder and collaborating director Maggie Sofea will participate in a Q&A following the screening.
