People’s History Spotlight – 1919 Winnipeg General Strike

Although many Canadian companies enjoyed high profits from World War One contracts, working conditions were dismal and labor regulations were mostly non-existent. The 1919 Winnipeg General strike became the platform for future Canadian labor reforms and served as a great leap in bargaining rights.
